Why doesn’t the system track the worker’s location continuously?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

We intentionally do not use background location tracking, and there are several important reasons why this is technically impossible, legally restricted, and practically harmful.

1. Legal and privacy restrictions

Continuous GPS tracking without explicit consent is illegal in most EU countries and may be considered a violation of employee privacy.
For your business, this creates risks of complaints and fines.

2. The phone battery would drain extremely fast

Constant GPS usage is one of the most battery-intensive operations on a mobile device.
If we tracked location nonstop:

  • the worker’s phone would discharge within hours;

  • they would lose communication;

  • you would lose real data for the shift.

3. Android and iOS limitations

Operating systems do not allow continuous background location collection unless the app is a navigation service (like Uber or Google Maps).
Any attempt to track location without user interaction is blocked by the system.

4. Security and trust model of our app

Our app works only through manual verification requests, which the worker confirms by tapping a button.
This approach is:

  • transparent

  • legal

  • battery-friendly

  • trusted by employees

Summary

We do not track location continuously because:

  • the law requires it

  • constant GPS would drain the phone quickly

  • Android/iOS block background tracking

  • the manual request system is safer, ethical, and more reliable

The system works only through one-time location requests, ensuring trustworthy and accurate data.
